Track 1: Pellets & Biocarbon

With panels covering topics ranging from feedstock cultivation and harvest to international markets, this track will focus on the growing pellet and densified biomass market. With pellets and densified biomass being produced and sold in quantities ranging from a 40 pound bag to entire shiploads, this industry is serving a broad market with very diverse needs. The track will offer attendees an opportunity to focus exclusively on this hot segment of the biomass to energy industry.

Possible Topics:

  • Feedstock/Logistics
  • Technology & Equipment
  • Operations & Maintenance
  • Automation and AI
  • Torrefaction & Pyrolysis
  • Biochar, Biocoal & Carbonized Biomass
  • Domestic and Global Markets
  • Policy, Incentives and Carbon Credits
  • Dust Management/Fire & Explosion Risk Abatement
  • Quality Assurance & Standards
  • Plant Design/Engineering Considerations
  • Non-Pellet Densification Approaches
  • Feedstock Tracking/Sustainability Requirements
  • Emissions Control and Environmental Compliance
  • Storage, Handling and Shipping

Track 2: Biomass Power & Thermal

This track will focus on the current state of biomass derived thermal energy, as well as opportunities that are being created both in and outside the United States. In addition, this track will cover the financing, design, construction and operation of grid connected power production facilities. In the U.S. alone, more than 180 facilities are currently producing electric power from biomass inputs and nearly 40 more are in various stages of development and construction. Speakers in this track will cover the industry’s most pressing technical, regulatory and legislative issues and provide attendees with a comprehensive picture on the outlook and growth potential of the biomass derived electric power sector.

Possible Topics:

  • Residential Scale Pellet Market
  • District Heating
  • Combined Heat and Power
  • Industrial Biomass Thermal Energy Production and Use
  • Biomass Supply Chain
  • Boiler Technology and Regulation
  • Biomass Heat in Rural Areas
  • Biomass as Process Heat at Biorefineries
  • Strategic Partnerships
  • Negotiating Offtake Agreements
  • Regulatory and Emissions Compliance
  • Co-firing Strategies
  • Conversion Technologies
  • Feedstock Supply Infrastructure
  • Controlling Construction, Operation and Maintenance Costs

Track 3: Biogas & Renewable Natural Gas (RNG)

This track will focus on the financing, design, permitting, construction and operation of landfill gas, biogas and waste-to-energy (WTE) facilities. With over 500 landfill gas, 150 biogas and 80-plus WTE plants in the U.S. alone, the renewable heat and power produced by these facilities is significant. Even more significant is the potential for growth in all three of these categories, by implementing newer, cleaner and improved energy recovery technologies that utilize MSW, manure or organic waste.

Possible Topics:

  • Generating Cellulosic RINs at Biogas/RNG Facilities
  • Co-Digestion Approaches
  • Mechanical Approaches to Increased Biogas Production
  • Chemical and Biological Approaches to Increased Biogas Production
  • Digester Case Studies
  • Gas Clean-Up/Compression Strategies
  • Digester Deployment at Existing Bioenergy Facilities
  • Biogas/RNG at Wastewater Treatment Facilities
  • Digester Design Principles
  • Strategic Operation & Maintenance Programs
  • Deploying Digesters to Manage Brewery and Food Waste Streams
  • RNG as a Vehicle Fuel
  • Financing Biogas/RNG Projects
  • Monetizing Digestate
